Selective gold plating

New for 2026, yellow gold plating highlights Hahn’s art on your coin’s reverse. While the 2025 editions featured gold-plated background elements, for 2026, the gold plating pays tribute to Hahn’s creative vision, with additional gold plating on the rim and the effigy on the obverse for visual balance.

Effigy from that era

Your coin’s obverse features the effigy of King George V—a snapshot of Canada’s coins at the time of the design submission (1936).

About this piece

MAPLE LEAF Emanuel Hahn Lost Designs 2026 CANADA 2oz .9999 Silver One Cent Coin (No Tax)

Following the elegance of Emanuel Hahn’s “flora” designs (2024) and the untamed spirit of his “fauna” concepts (2025), the 2026 instalments serve up pure Canadiana. Coin #5 is a never-before-seen maple leaf concept—stylized and pared back, yet instantly recognizable. It’s an exploration of shape, wrapped in an expression of Canadian identity, a long-lost coin concept that never made it to public view… until now.

What could have been. What now is.

Special features

  • Coin #5. Another hidden original finally comes to light! This fifth coin in the series re-creates Emanuel Hahn’s maple leaf cent design, one of several concepts that were part of a program to modernize Canada’s coins in 1937. Nearly 90 years later, this coin design is finally making its debut!
  • Features the original year. In keeping with Hahn’s original sketch, your coin’s reverse features the date “1937” instead of this coin’s actual year of issue (“2026”), which has been moved to the obverse.
  • Close reproduction. The engraving is based on the original pencil sketch, which has been preserved as part of the National Currency Collection (NCC) of the Bank of Canada Museum.
  • 2 oz. silver. Precision-crafted in 2 oz. of 99.99% pure silver, with a limited mintage of just 2,500 coins.
  • Includes serialized Masters Club certificate. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. Your coin comes with a special serialized Masters Club certificate featuring a reproduction of the archival art.
  • No GST/HST.

Packaging

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a lacquered Royal Canadian Mint-branded case with a black beauty box.
